General FAQs for In-person and Online Counselling

 

How much is an individual session?

♦ Individual counselling is $160 for a 60 minute session.

How much is couples counselling?

♦ Relationship counselling is $250 for a 90 minute session, and $170 for a 60 minute session. Initial sessions require 90 minutes. 

Can I talk to you before booking?

♦ Yes, there is an initial free Phone Inquiry Session (15 minutes)

These are opportunity for you to briefly share about the issues you would like to address in counselling. People find this a good opportunity to get a sense of what it would be like to work with me.

Do I need a GP referral?

No, you don’t need a referral, you can book with me directly.

Can I claim Medicare?

No. As a private therapist my sessions are not covered by Medicare. However, this is reflected in my lower fees. The advantage to you is my notes and any assessments will not be filed with the National Health Register. A potential issue with future medical and life insurance policies.

Can I use my Insurance cover?

Insync Counselling is a Registered Provider for the following health funds. Rebates may be available for eligible members of:

Online Video Counselling FAQ

If you’ve never participated in online therapy, you may have some questions about how it works. Below are some answers to the most frequently asked questions:

Yes! 30 years of research has found online counselling to be as effective as face-to-face sessions for most issues.  

Will I be able to relate to the therapist as I would in a face-to-face session?

Yes! We use a conferencing platform called Zoom which encrypts the video between users. Your session is 100% confidential, safe and secure.

You only need a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or Smartphone, and good internet / WiFi connection. Note: for couple sessions a Smartphone is not quite big enough. 

If your device enables you to watch YouTube videos you will be able to engage in online counselling. 

Yes! It is just as successful as a face-to-face meeting.

  3. You will receive a confirmation email and paperwork to complete and return before for the first session.
  4. Then a second email with the meeting link to join Kerry in her secure meeting room.
